DiveCast Privacy Policy

What data we collect
DiveCast collects the following data to provide dive forecasting and logging:
- Account information: Email address and password (stored securely by Supabase)
- Location data: GPS coordinates of dive spots you save or log
- Dive logs: Ratings, fish catches, conditions, notes, and photos you enter
- Trophy records: Species, weight, and photos of trophy fish
How we use your data
- To provide personalized dive spot recommendations
- To display weather, tide, and solunar forecasts for your saved spots
- To store your dive history and trophy collection
- To improve forecast accuracy based on your logged conditions
Third-party services
- Supabase: Database and authentication (EU hosted)
- Met.no: Weather and tide data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute
- Open-Meteo: Elevation data for wind shelter analysis
- Anthropic Claude API: AI-powered dive insights (when you choose to use it)
- Copernicus Marine Service: Satellite algae data (optional)
Data storage
Your data is stored in Supabase (cloud database) and protected by Row Level Security — only you can access your own data. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage.
Local preferences (filters, favorites) are stored on your device using AsyncStorage.
Your rights
You can:
- View all your data within the app
- Delete individual dives, spots, and trophies
- Delete your account by contacting us
- Export your data by contacting us
Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties. Third-party services only receive the minimum data needed (coordinates for weather lookups, dive logs for AI analysis when you choose to use it).
